Tuscany-SubRome-SubUmbria-Sub

Welcome to AncoraItalia: Bringing travel dreams to life since 2003.

As an Italian-American, I feel a deep connection to the Tuscan countryside where my mother was raised. We used to come and visit my grandparents and cousins every summer during my own childhood, and I continued returning as often as I could as an adult.

On one such visit in 1998, my husband Doug and I discovered this incredible house—actually an old mill—that was beautiful yet sadly in need of restoration. We were especially taken by the 17th century structure’s positioning atop its own bridge with a bubbling brook running beneath from the hillside woodlands.

We purchased the house spontaneously and set to work carefully restoring our Mulino (mill) with fine quality materials to match the original classic style. Dating to 1650, our historic home was once the olive and grain mill of the noble family of the Villa Torrigiani. Now featured in a book about Lucca’s history, it is said to be the only mill of its kind in Tuscany built on a bridge.

Today our carefully restored mill is our home as well as a charming country inn with two separate apartments for guests: Il Mulino and Apartment Valentina. We look forward to your stay with us!
