If you haven't visited the Lucca area, you will find it to be a pleasant surprise. There is biking and walking on the road at the top of the Renaissance wall that surrounds the city. Classical music and Puccini concerts in the church of San Giovanni Battista (around the corner from the Cathedral of San Martino), every evening, featuring works of Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and other Italian composers (All of this, because it is the birthplace of opera composer, Giacomo Puccini).
July brings the Lucca music festival www.summer-festival.com with the famous stars such as Sheryl Crow, Alisha Keyes, Nora Jones, Elton John, to name a few, and of course, more Puccini opera in Lucca and at the outdoor opera house at Torre del Lago. www.puccinifestival.it
Our country properties in Tuscany are all in spectacular settings in rolling Tuscan hills near vineyards and olive groves. Some are on a working farm and others are on wooded estates. All have been carefully renovated, but still have characteristic Tuscan architectural details such as terra cotta floors, fireplaces and brick-and-beam ceilings. You'll be close to a train station and cities such as Siena, Florence, and Lucca, top towns for which Tuscany is renowned.
